SCP 173 – Chamber Experiment
SCP-173 Survival Horror Game – How Long Can You Stay Alive?
SCP-173 is a first-person horror survival game where players take the role of a Class-D subject trapped inside a containment chamber with the deadly SCP-173. The goal is simple but tense: stay alive for as long as possible while monitoring failing systems and keeping constant eye contact with the creature.
The Premise
The entire game takes place inside a sealed containment room during an experiment. You are placed inside with SCP-173, a statue-like entity that remains completely still when someone is looking at it. The moment it is unobserved—even for a second—it moves at extreme speed and instantly kills its target.
That rule drives every second of gameplay. Players must watch the creature while also handling other urgent problems around the chamber.
And the room will not stay stable for long.
Surviving the Chamber
The containment room contains two critical systems: a light generator and a ventilation system. Both begin to malfunction as the experiment continues, forcing players to divide their attention between SCP-173 and the failing equipment.
If the lights shut down, the chamber becomes completely dark. In that moment SCP-173 is free to move—and the game ends immediately.
Ventilation failure brings a slower but equally dangerous threat. Toxic gas begins filling the chamber, damaging health and causing the character to blink more often. Blinking reduces the time SCP-173 is observed, which makes surviving even harder.
Keeping both systems working becomes a constant race against time.
Watching SCP-173
The most important rule is simple: never lose sight of SCP-173.
Players must keep their distance while maintaining direct visual contact. Looking away, blinking at the wrong time, or getting too close creates the opening SCP-173 needs to attack.
That tension is the core of the experience. You are always deciding when it is safe to move and when to stop and stare.
Managing Survival Stats
Several status indicators determine how long players can last inside the chamber.
Blink represents how often the character’s eyes close. Frequent blinking increases the chance that SCP-173 will move.
Health decreases if the ventilation system fails and toxic gas spreads.
Light shows the condition of the generator keeping the room illuminated.
Ventilation measures how well the chamber air system is functioning.
Ignoring any of these can quickly lead to disaster.
The Objective
There is no escape from the chamber. The entire challenge is about endurance.
Players try to survive longer than their previous attempts while maintaining control of the room’s systems and keeping SCP-173 under constant observation. Every second alive increases the experiment timer—and pushes the tension higher.
One blink. One mistake. That’s all it takes.
