Dig Out: Prison Escape Simulator is a 3D first-person casual game where you play a prisoner plotting a quiet break from your cell. Your whole plan comes down to one thing: dig a tunnel under the floor and don’t get caught doing it.

It sounds simple. It isn’t.

Every shovelful of dirt buys you a little progress, but it also leaves a mess. Players have to hide the evidence before a guard wanders back through. Loose dirt, a shovel left in plain sight, an open mattress—any of those can blow your cover. So you dig, you cover your tracks, and you keep one eye on the door the entire time.

What You’re Actually Doing in the Cell

The tunnel is the goal, but the loop is bigger than that. As you dig deeper, you’ll find items buried in the ground. Some are useful. Most aren’t, and those get sold off for cash.

That money matters more than you’d expect for a casual game. You spend it on upgrades that change how fast you can work. A better shovel cuts through dirt quicker. A bigger backpack lets you haul more loot per trip. There’s also energy to stock up on, movement speed to boost, and better boots that get you around faster. Skip the upgrades and you’ll be grinding the same patch of dirt for ages.

Stay Sharp, Watch the Clock

The day-night cycle is the part that keeps you honest. Guards come and go, and getting spotted with the tunnel exposed is bad news. Concealing your work carefully is just as important as the digging itself.

Mixed in are mini-games and small tasks that break up the routine. You’ll also talk to characters, trade loot, and manage when to rest versus when to push forward. And when the day runs out, you sleep and start fresh the next morning. Keep digging, keep hiding, and eventually the tunnel reaches the other side.

Game Controls

You interact with objects by selecting them and hitting the action button—that covers digging, collecting, hiding evidence, talking to people, selling loot, and buying upgrades.

• Left mouse button: dig, pick up items, interact, talk, sell, and buy
• H: go back through the tunnel
• Tab: open the interface

• Left joystick: move
• Strong push on the joystick: run

• Jump button: jump
• Action button: dig, pick up, talk, sell, buy, open or close objects
• Rope button: return from the tunnel to the cell
• Sleep button: rest and move to the next day
