Crusader of Centy

Crusader of Centy is an action-adventure game developed by Nextech for the Sega Genesis. The game follows Corona, a 14-year-old boy who inherits his late father’s sword to combat monsters threatening humanity. It features an overhead perspective with a focus on exploration, battling enemies, and solving puzzles. As the story unfolds, various animals join Corona and assist him with unique abilities, often allowing access to previously unreachable areas.

Gameplay

In the game, Corona loses his ability to communicate with humans but gains the ability to speak with animals. These animals can join him and lend their special abilities when equipped. For example, his pet dog Mac (Johnny in the UK version) can hold enemies in place, and a penguin named Chilly (Penguy in the UK version) can enhance Corona’s sword with ice attacks. Players can equip two abilities at a time, and there are 16 animals to collect.

Plot

In Soleil Town, a law mandates that all 14-year-old boys train for battle. Corona, having just turned 14, receives his father’s sword and shield. The story is divided into two parts. Initially, Corona explores and unlocks various levels, communicating only with animals and plants. After defeating Maldra the Dragon (known simply as Dragon in the original version), Corona regains the ability to talk to humans. In the second part of the game, he travels through time to understand the root of the conflict between humans and monsters and strives to create a better world.
