Reacticore
Reacticore: The Incremental Science Simulation Game
Reacticore is an incremental simulation game where players manage a digital petri dish to trigger escalating chain reactions. It strips away the usual filler of modern idle titles to focus strictly on expanding energy grids and straightforward resource management.
Funday Games was made in five-week development cycle by a solo creator. You start with a heat gun and an empty screen. Firing the gun into the grid forces digital cells to interact and destabilize. When those cells burst, they leave behind raw energy. Players have to actively drag their cursor across the playfield to scoop up this currency, which then funnels into a growing research budget.
Here is where the core loop takes hold.
Players spend their research budget to purchase incremental upgrades. The grid expands. Reactions become more complex and cover wider areas. It takes about thirty minutes to see most of what the current build offers. Some users might find the late-game manual collection slightly tiring without an auto-gather mechanic, but the visual payoff usually keeps the momentum going. The mechanics pull more weight than you’d expect from a quick experimental project.
The game leans heavily into an atmospheric, retro aesthetic. Subtle CRT scanlines overlay the screen to simulate an outdated lab monitor. This minimalist approach keeps your attention entirely on the cascading cell reactions without cluttering the screen with unnecessary UI elements.
Game Controls
- Mouse Movement: Drag the cursor over dropped energy to collect it into your budget.
- Left Click: Fire the heat gun to start cell reactions and select upgrades from the menu.
As always, remember to have fun!
