Sanguine 3 Demo

Sanguine 3 Demo is a side-scrolling platformer where players become Eleanor, a cunning vampire fighting through a world of eternal night. Created by the independent developer Ray Beckham, this demo first became available in 2024 and offers a complete, hour-long gameplay experience. While it’s not the full version, players still get a full storyline route, missing only a few optional locations from the complete release.

Gameplay and Setting

Eleanor’s journey is driven by revenge—battling through swarms of monsters to challenge the undead ruler, Drauthu. As a vampire, she hunts humans, drains their blood, and uses it as fuel to stay alive and grow stronger. The balance between stealth and power defines the game: stay unseen, or risk getting riddled with bullets before you can strike back.

Blood and Power

Blood is central to survival. When Eleanor captures a victim, holding the attack button drains their blood to heal her. Fresh blood also triggers “bloodlust,” which increases speed the fuller her blood supply gets. Losing health scatters pools of blood across the ground, letting players recover by touching them.

Sometimes, Eleanor can find purple orbs that grant her ghostly wings. With them, she can boost upward during a fall—an ability that becomes more powerful the faster she’s falling. The effect gives players extra mobility for escaping danger or reaching hidden paths.

Movement and Exploration

Every movement in Sanguine 3 can be turned into an advantage. When Eleanor lands, she takes a moment to recover, but by pressing down and forward, players can make her tumble for a burst of speed. Wall climbing, ceiling slides, and aerial zip-lining all come into play, making exploration fluid and skill-based. These techniques temporarily boost Eleanor’s maximum speed until she touches the ground again.

Curses and Hazards

Enemies bring more than just physical danger. Slimy green foes can infect Eleanor, filling her blood bar with sludge. The slime counts as a kind of temporary armor, but it prevents her from collecting more blood—and if the bar fills completely, she’ll explode. Taking damage from other sources removes some of the slime, though the discarded goo quickly transforms into small creatures that try to slime her again.

Icy enemies add another layer of challenge. While frost doesn’t harm Eleanor directly, it slows her down. This slowdown can, however, work in her favor, because being frozen temporarily grants immunity to fire damage.

Controls

The controls are easy to learn but leave room for mastery. Players use the arrow keys to move, duck, and climb ladders. Press Z to jump or grab onto walls and ledges, and X to attack or drain blood once Eleanor obtains her axe. The Escape key opens the menu, where controls can be customized.
