Spongebob Boo Or Boom

SpongeBob Boo or Boom: Halloween Bomberman-Style Arcade Game

SpongeBob Boo or Boom is a Halloween-themed arcade maze game where players race through Bikini Bottom dropping bombs to claim tiles and collect candy. It’s basically Bomberman with a SpongeBob skin — and it works better than it has any right to.

The setup is simple. Plankton threw a Halloween bash at the Chum Bucket. Nobody showed. Now he’s taking it out on the whole town by scattering Plankt-O-Lanterns across every street, blocking traffic and ruining the holiday. Someone has to fix it.

Pick Your Fighter

Players choose one of four characters before the round starts: SpongeBob, Patrick, Sally, or Squidward. Whoever you don’t pick becomes your competition. They want the same tiles you want, and they’re not going to wait their turn.

The AI plays aggressively. Expect to lose ground if you hesitate.

How the Game Works

You move through town placing Plumsters — think cartoon bombs — to blow up the Plankt-O-Lanterns. Every tile you clear gets painted in your character’s color. That’s how scoring works.

Single colored tile? 50 candy points. Surround an entire house with your color and the house itself flips, worth 500. The catch is that any opponent can roll up and overwrite your tiles with their own color before the timer ends. Holding territory matters as much as grabbing it.

One bomb per tile. That’s the rule, and it shapes how you have to plan your routes.

Power-Ups Hidden in the Lanterns

Seven different power-ups are scattered inside the lanterns. Some let you drop every Plumster you have at once. Others swap your position with a bomb you’ve already placed, extend your blast radius, boost your speed, or expand how many bombs you can carry.

Then there are the green bombs. Get caught in one of those blasts and you lose everything — points, power-ups, all of it. You can rebuild, but only if there’s time left on the clock.

Why It’s Worth Playing

The territory-painting mechanic adds something most Bomberman clones skip. You’re not just blowing things up. You’re claiming ground, defending it, and watching three other players try to repaint your work in real time. Matches stay tense from start to finish.
