Oneli â Puzzle Platformer by Emlise
Oneli is a puzzle platformer that blends simple visuals with strange, dreamlike atmosphere. Created by indie developer Emlise (formerly faxdoc), it was built in just 24 hours and released as an HTML5 browser game. Players step into the role of a lone explorer navigating a vessel that has been invaded by a mysterious stranger. The ship and the world around it now feel unfamiliar, almost alien, and the goal is to move through a series of rooms and puzzles to restore a sense of balanceâor at least peace.
The game unfolds across about thirty puzzles. The controls may seem odd at first, as movement sometimes shifts depending on how gravity works in your current environment. That challenge is intentional: learning to think differently about space and direction is part of what makes the experience satisfying. Some players have even found alternate solutions that werenât originally planned, which speaks to the flexibility of the level design.
While Oneli includes no text-based menu or clear UI, the minimalism suits its mood. Youâre guided mostly by sound and motion. Subtle music composed from A Tape Full of Mistakes and sound effects by soundeffect-lab help create the eerie setting. Each new area offers clues through design rather than words, letting players rely on observation and experimentation instead of instructions.
The world feels both mysterious and sereneâghostly figures drift through the dim, pixel-style environment, and the sound design emphasizes quiet spaces where every footstep matters. Itâs not a game that tells you whatâs happening outright, but one that trusts you to build your own understanding.
