Zombie Derby: Survival Racing and Vehicular Combat

Zombie Derby is a 3D survival racing game where players bash through hordes of the undead using heavily modified vehicles. Surviving the road trip means carefully managing your fuel gauge and continuously upgrading your ride to reach the final safe zone.

Developed by Brinemedia, this title skips the complicated storylines and drops players right into the driver’s seat. Progression revolves almost entirely around your garage. You start out with a simple Redneck pickup truck. Keep playing, and you can unlock four other rides. These range from the classy Hunter and the armored Sledge to a massive piece of machinery known as the Harvester. Each car can hold progressively more loot than the last. But a stock car won’t get you very far against a mob.

That brings us to the customization. Every vehicle features up to fifteen specific upgrade options. Players can bolt on spiked bumpers to clear out bodies or mount improved tires for better grip. Dropping credits into engine buffs is basically mandatory. You also have to scale up your ammo reserves and fuel capacity.

On the road, resource management dictates everything. Your gas tank drains fast. The second a car runs out of fuel, the run is over and the zombies win. Players must also watch their nitro supply closely. Burning a speed boost on a flat stretch is a waste. Saving it to launch over a deadly gap or push up a steep hill is usually the only way to survive.

There are five different locations to cross. Each level forces you to squeeze just a little more distance out of your current build.

The 3D graphics do a great job selling the gritty atmosphere. Smashing through the shambling bodies feels impactful. It handles HD displays without struggling, keeping your focus on the road ahead rather than screen tearing or lag.
