Slender: The Eight Pages is a first-person survival horror game where players wander through a dark forest at night, trying to collect eight scattered pages while being hunted by the Slender Man — a tall, faceless figure known from online horror stories. Created by independent developer Mark J. Hadley using the Unity engine, the game gained attention for its intense atmosphere and simple design when it was released in 2012.

The game’s challenge comes from having almost no tools for protection. Players only have a flashlight that can run out of battery, and running too long drains stamina, which makes escaping more difficult. There are no weapons or special gear, only the goal of surviving long enough to gather all eight pages. The more pages players find, the more aggressive and unpredictable the Slender Man becomes, making it harder to stay calm and focused.

Slender: The Eight Pages became popular online, especially through gameplay videos that showed how its minimal visuals and sound design created real tension. It later inspired many similar games and a sequel, Slender: The Arrival, developed with Blue Isle Studios.
