The Silent Kingdom Demo
The Silent Kingdom Demo: A Dark Otome RPG Where Every Choice Counts
The Silent Kingdom is a story-driven otome JRPG where your choices and your relationships with other characters shape the entire narrative. Developed by Lucky Cat Otome, the free demo covers the full prologue—roughly an hour and a half of play—and is available for Windows.
The Story: A Princess Against the World
You play as Princess Erinys. Her kingdom has been crushed under a sorrowful curse, and saving everything she loves means standing against the entire world. Even the Goddess herself.
It’s a heavy premise, and the game leans into it. Conflicts here aren’t black and white. Tragedy stacks on tragedy, characters get corrupted, and the story keeps asking whether the princess will hold onto her morality or trade it for power. How you answer is up to you.
Shaping Erinys Your Way
Erinys isn’t a blank slate. She has her own background and a core personality. But within that frame, players decide almost everything—how she speaks to people, what she thinks and feels about events, even what name she goes by. Every decision she faces lands in your hands.
That said, not every choice is about steering the plot. Plenty of dialogue options exist purely for roleplay, letting you define the kind of princess you want without worrying about a “correct” answer. There isn’t one. Just different answers.
Romance and Companions
Along the journey, Erinys can build bonds with her traveling companions, and some of those bonds can turn romantic. Romance isn’t required to finish the story, but the relationships you build play a real role in how it develops. Romantic routes include adult scenes, though nothing explicit.
Presentation and Languages
The game uses an anime art style, with event CGs appearing throughout key scenes. The visuals pull more weight than you’d expect from a one-person project.
And it is a one-person project. The Silent Kingdom was originally written in European Spanish, then fully translated into English and polished by a native English speaker. You can switch languages from the options menu.
Where to Get It
The demo is free. The full game is in development following a successful Kickstarter campaign, and it has a page on Steam if you want to follow the complete release.
As always, remember to have fun!
