SuperTux

SuperTux is a 2D side‑scrolling platformer where players control Tux, a penguin who sets out to rescue his girlfriend Penny after she’s kidnapped by the villain Nolok. The story begins on Icy Island, where Nolok interrupts a picnic, knocks Tux out, and takes Penny away. From there, players guide Tux through different locations such as snowy peaks, forests, underground areas, and castles, each filled with traps, enemy creatures, and unique bosses standing in the way.

Gameplay works around jumping across platforms, avoiding hazards, and using power‑ups gained from hidden blocks. These include items that make Tux larger, let him shoot fire or ice, give him temporary invincibility, or help him glide through the air. As in many classic platformers, jumping on enemies is a staple way to defeat them, but collecting the right power‑up can make things much easier. Each world ends with a boss battle that players must win to unlock new areas.

Beyond the main story, SuperTux includes community‑made stages such as bonus islands, seasonal levels, and anniversary maps inspired by retro platformers. Players also have access to a built‑in level editor, allowing them to create custom levels or try out others shared online.
