Medabots: Rokusho
“Medabots: Metabee” and “Medabots: Rokusho” are two versions of a 2D top-down role-playing game in the Medabots series, developed by Natsume for the Game Boy Advance. These games follow the adventures of a young boy named Ikki Tenryou who, like many kids his age, is fascinated by Medabots—robotic companions that can battle each other. However, Ikki initially doesn’t own a Medabot. One day, after being sent to buy dinner, he instead uses the money to buy a Medabot, only to discover it’s missing a crucial component called a medal. Fortunately, a mysterious figure known as the Phantom Renegade gifts Ikki’s father a medal, which he passes on to Ikki, enabling him to engage in Robattles.
In these games, gameplay is divided into two main areas: navigating the World Map and engaging in Battles. As players explore the World Map, they encounter other Medafighters and engage in 3-v-3 battles. Each Medabot in these battles can perform four types of actions based on their Head, Right Arm, Left Arm, and Legs parts. Success in battles depends on strategic choices regarding which parts to target, as battles can end when a Medabot’s head is destroyed. Victory in battles yields experience points, Medaparts, and money, which can be used to further customize Medabots. Certain foes, like the Rubberobo Gang, drop special items like Rubberobo Medals that can help players escape from difficult battles. These unique gameplay elements, combined with a captivating plot, make “Medabots: Metabee” and “Medabots: Rokusho” engaging additions to the Medabots series.
