In this game, players step into the shoes of a young hero from the land of Firewood, who is on a mission to avenge the death of his parents and defeat the evil giant, Death Adder. The plot thickens as the hero discovers that he is actually the prince of Altorulia and that the princess of Firewood is still alive. To defeat Death Adder, the hero must find and reclaim nine magical crystals that were stolen and hidden across the land in various labyrinths by the treacherous minister who betrayed the king. These crystals once protected the kingdom from Death Adder’s magic.

Gameplay involves exploring a vast overworld, which consists of more than 200 unique screens, filled with enemies and challenges. The hero must locate and navigate through nine secret labyrinths to collect each of the crystals. These labyrinths are filled with puzzles, monsters, and bosses that guard the crystals. As players progress, they can collect items and learn new abilities, including magical powers associated with elements like Thunder, Earth, Fire, and Water, which are essential for accessing new areas and overcoming obstacles.

The ultimate goal is to gather all nine crystals, which allows access to the tenth labyrinth where the mythical Golden Axe is hidden. This legendary weapon is the only tool capable of defeating Death Adder. Throughout the adventure, players can upgrade their weapons and armor, learn powerful magic spells, and use magic pots which are necessary for casting spells but are depleted with use.

The game’s currency consists of horns collected from defeated enemies, which can be used to purchase supplies and services in towns. Additionally, the game features hidden areas that can be revealed by using the hero’s axe to chop down trees or employing Earth magic to clear away rocks.
