Dice of Dusk
Dice of Dusk: Mastering the Roguelike Puzzle Escape
Dice of Dusk is a deck-building puzzle game that traps players inside a mysterious manor where survival depends on rolling and organizing thousands of dice. You have to solve your way through increasingly complex rooms to escape the dusk-lit estate.
Developed by Kultisti, the game starts off looking like a straightforward brain teaser. But that changes quickly. Once you clear the initial tutorial sections, a strict time-attack element kicks in. You are suddenly forced to think on your feet. Pacing shifts from casual problem-solving to high-stakes decision-making. If ticking clocks stress you out, this specific mechanic might take some getting used to.
The core loop revolves around managing more than 20 different types of dice. Players build a deck of strategies to tackle the manor’s shifting rooms. There is a distinct roguelike twist introduced partway through your run. It turns standard problem solving into a gritty survival challenge. You fail, you learn, and you start over with a better understanding of the board. The mechanics share some DNA with games like Inscryption. That said, this title definitely holds its own identity without relying on familiar tropes.
Visually, the 2D pixel art handles the eerie but cute tone perfectly. The developer included multiple color palettes that unlock as you progress through the stages. Clicking around the environment actually matters here. Screens hide small interactive secrets—rewarding players who take a second to poke at the scenery before the timer runs out.
Story fragments and surprisingly emotional cutscenes break up the intensity of the endless runs. Grinding out anvil recipes gives you a tangible reason to keep diving back in, constantly testing your setups against the clock.
