FNF’ Fabulous Beats: A Funkin’ Mod for Donghua Fans
FNF’ Fabulous Beats drops the Chinese donghua Fabulous Beasts into Friday Night Funkin‘. It’s a rhythm mod where you hit arrows in time with the music.
This one is a demo, made by bownitt. It’s built as a base game mod folder, so it slots into the current version of Funkin’ rather than running as its own separate build. Expect a short taste rather than a full week.
The Show Behind the Mod
Fabulous Beasts started as a manhua by Xue Xia Mao Yao Zi. Studio FENZ later animated it for Bilibili, with the first episode arriving in 2023. The story follows Sibuxiang, a mythical beast who comes down to the modern world to help other creatures get by in an age of science. Pixiu and Tuye turn up alongside him. Almost the whole cast is drawn from Chinese mythology, redesigned as anthropomorphic animals in a slice of life comedy.
Which makes it an odd pick for a rap battle mod. A gentle workplace comedy about mythical creatures is not where most modders go looking. That’s exactly why it catches your eye on a crowded mod list.
How Do You Play FNF’ Fabulous Beats?
Arrows scroll up the screen, and you press the matching key the moment each one lands on the markers at the top. Land enough and your health bar holds. Miss too many in a row and the song cuts you off.
New players tend to mash. Don’t. Tap once for a normal note and hold only when the arrow has a tail behind it, because mashing through a clean section is what breaks most combos. You can play FNF’ Fabulous Beats in your browser with nothing to install.
