Long Drive to Horizons Sim: Open-World Desert Survival Racing Game

Long Drive to Horizons Sim is an open-world driving simulator that mixes sandbox exploration, racing, and shooter mechanics across a massive desert wasteland. Players take control of a single vehicle and must scavenge, build, and fight their way through endless dunes filled with raiders and zombies.

A Sandbox Built for the Road

The desert stretches for kilometers in every direction. There’s no fixed path—just sun-bleached dunes, broken-down caravans, abandoned outposts, and the occasional hidden cavern waiting to be picked clean. Dynamic weather rolls in without warning. Random events keep things unpredictable, so two trips through the same area rarely play out the same way.

That open-ended structure is the backbone of the game. You decide where to go and what to chase.

Building Your Vehicle From Scratch

Vehicle customization runs deep. Players collect bodies, engines, and wheels, then bolt them together into something that fits their style—whether that’s a heavy armored cruiser or a lightweight speed machine. The repair system goes further than most racing games. Individual components matter, and a broken circuit can leave you stranded miles from anywhere.

Keeping the ride running is its own ongoing project. Refueling, swapping worn parts, and unlocking upgrades for better engine output or suspension tuning all feed into how you handle whatever the desert throws at you next.

Racing Across the Dunes

Race mode pits your custom build against AI opponents and other players across long stretches of brutal terrain. Speed isn’t the only factor. Fuel management and vehicle durability matter just as much—push too hard and you’ll burn out before the finish line. It’s a smart twist on the standard racing formula.

When the Sun Goes Down

Nights are different. Zombies crawl out of the sand in waves, and players have two real options: run them down with the vehicle or stop and fight on foot. Either way, surviving until dawn takes planning.

Combat extends beyond the undead. Raiders ambush travelers. Rival drivers get aggressive. Firearms, traps, and improvised weapons all come into play during these encounters, and the skirmishes rarely unfold the same way twice.

Scavenging the Wasteland

Loot drives most of what you do between races and fights. Abandoned camps hold weapon parts. Crashed caravans hide ammunition. Derelict garages might give up rare crafting materials if you dig deep enough. The detail packed into these locations gives the world weight—it feels lived-in, even when it’s empty.

Physics and damage modeling are handled with care. Crashes leave real consequences, and the way the vehicle handles changes as parts wear down.
