The Story of Thor: Beyond Oasis (Sega)

Beyond Oasis (known as The Story of Thor outside North America) is a 1994 action-adventure game developed by Ancient and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis.

Plot

Players control Prince Ali, who discovers an ancient gold armlet once belonging to a wizard engaged in a long conflict with the evil wielder of a destructive silver armlet. This gold armlet grants Ali the power to summon four spirits—Dytto the water spirit, Efreet the fire spirit, Shade the shadow spirit, and Bow the plant spirit. With these spirits at his command, Ali sets out across the land of Oasis to thwart a new foe who has revived the silver armlet’s malevolent force.

Gameplay

The gameplay resembles the Legend of Zelda series, with Prince Ali exploring the map and undertaking quests. Throughout his journey, Ali collects various items to restore health and mana, employs special weapons like swords, crossbows, and bombs to defeat enemies, and summons four magical spirits from shrines for assistance. While Ali’s knife is his primary weapon with unlimited use, capable of special attacks, other weapons he acquires have limited durability and will break after several uses, though unlimited versions can be found.
