Sonic Spinball

Description

Sonic Spinball is a retro Sonic the Hedgehog pinball game.

Back Story:

The narrative takes place on Planet Mobius, a serene planet that is suddenly plunged into chaos when Dr. Robotnik launches an invasion. The nefarious doctor is purportedly abducting the native Animals and converting them into his obedient army of Badniks. In furtherance of his schemes, he establishes a fresh stronghold called the Veg-O-Fortress on Mount Mobius, which derives its power from volcanoes and the energy of Chaos Emeralds. The fortress is safeguarded by a unique defense mechanism that resembles a pinball machine and houses all sixteen Chaos Emeralds that supply energy to the facility.

Gameplay:

Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball is a pinball-inspired 2D side-scrolling game that requires players to maneuver Sonic (who takes on the role of a ball) through multiple levels. In ball form, Sonic can be launched upwards or across different levels using flippers. When not curled up, Sonic has access to his familiar moveset from the main Sonic games. He can move around the pinball table levels, jump, duck and execute the Super Spin Dash.

The player’s primary objective in the game is to collect Chaos Emeralds, which are scattered throughout each level. The number of Emeralds varies by level, and collecting all of them is necessary to fight the level boss and progress further in the game. Each Emerald requires a different collection method.

The game has a life system like other Sonic games. However, conventional damage does not affect Sonic. The only way to lose a life is by falling off the pinball table. When Sonic loses a life, the player can continue the game at the cost of one life. If all lives are lost, the game is over. Players can earn points by performing various actions, such as collecting Rings or defeating Badniks. Earning twenty million points grants players an extra life.
