Duke Nukem Advance
“Duke Nukem Advance” is an original installment in the Duke Nukem series, specifically developed for the Game Boy Advance. This first-person shooter utilizes graphics and sound elements from the classic “Duke Nukem 3D,” but features an entirely new storyline and levels designed for a handheld experience.
Storyline Overview
The game’s narrative follows Duke Nukem, a rugged action hero, who is deployed by General Graves to investigate a potential alien invasion at Area 51. Duke quickly uncovers evidence of alien activity and learns that these extraterrestrials require specialized “environmental regulators” to survive on Earth.
The investigation leads Duke to the Temple of Amun in Egypt, where he discovers a massive army of alien hybrids in stasis, poised to conquer the world. General Graves identifies a power source sustaining the aliens’ life-support systems, and Duke sets out to disable it. He succeeds in activating an override pump that drains the hibernation tanks, effectively eliminating the alien threat.
However, in a final act, the controlling alien triggers a self-destruct sequence for the temple. Duke narrowly escapes the destruction by using an alien transporter, which inadvertently sends him to Sydney, Australia. Here, Duke rescues a distressed undercover agent from a nightclub, who provides information about a catastrophic doomsday weapon being developed by the aliens to destroy Earth’s atmosphere.
Determined to thwart this final threat, Duke infiltrates the orbiting alien spaceship, tasked with hacking its systems to uncover any vulnerabilities. During his mission, he discovers that the aliens are cloning human females, including the agent he previously rescued, as part of their sinister plans for Earth.
