Top Gear Rally
Top Gear Rally, also known as Top Gear Rally SP in Japan, is a racing video game developed by Tantalus Interactive and released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. The game represents an evolution in the Top Gear series, as it incorporates fully polygonal graphics, moving away from the sprite-based visuals of earlier mobile games in the series.
One of the key gameplay enhancements in Top Gear Rally is the introduction of a new drifting mechanic. Players can initiate a drift by simultaneously pressing the acceleration and brake buttons, adding a layer of depth and skill to the racing. Additionally, the game introduces a new in-car camera angle, which provides a more immersive driving experience. This camera view can be toggled on and off with the select button.
The game includes several modes to cater to different playing preferences:
- Championship Mode: Where players compete in a series of races aiming for the top championship position.
- Quick Race: For jumping straight into the action without the commitment of a full championship.
- Time Attack: Where players race against the clock to set the fastest lap times.
- Practice Mode: This mode allows players to drive freely on any course to hone their skills, with the option to add obstacles to practice handling and control.
