The Legend of Super Mario – Save Mushroom Kingdom

Mario Zelda Adventure is an adventure-style hack that mashes up Super Mario Bros. with The Legend of Zelda, created by NesDraug, the same developer behind Beatles Adventures in Pepperland. In this game, players take on the role of Mario navigating the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Peach from Bowser, all while exploring a world inspired by Zelda’s classic setup. You’ll hunt for weapons, gear up with items, delve into dungeons to collect Star Pieces, and battle enemies like the Koopa Kids.

The hack cleverly adapts Zelda’s elements into Mario’s universe—think Fire Flowers standing in for candles, Feathers acting like protective rings, and Superballs replacing arrows. These items pop up in shops where you can buy them, or you might find them hidden around the map. Exploration feels key here, much like in the original Zelda, with a world divided into themed areas from Super Mario Bros. 3, such as grassy fields, deserts, icy zones, and Bowser’s dark realm. The graphics blend the two franchises nicely, with enemies redesigned to fit—Boom Booms as Dodongos or flattened Goombas as bosses—and the music sticks to familiar Mario tunes that shift in dungeons or special spots.

Players can boost Mario’s health using mushrooms, grab extra hearts by completing dungeons or finding hidden ones on the map, and upgrade tools like hammers that sub in for swords. Dungeons offer a mix of puzzles and fights, though they’re not as tricky as Zelda’s, and Bowser’s Castle throws in some unexpected twists without dragging on. It’s straightforward to stumble into hidden shops, warp zones, or entrances just by poking around—bombing walls, burning bushes, or pushing boulders.

One cool perk is the included map, manual, and box art for anyone wanting to make a physical copy. On the flip side, the world map feels a bit crammed, nudging you from one area to the next, which might leave you wandering if you’re not careful. Cash and bombs can run low early on, but there’s a handy surprise for your bomb stock later if you push through to Bowser. Overall, it’s not overly tough, making it accessible for players who know the basics of checking every nook in these kinds of games.
